Yes, the threads of technological complexity are as hidden and twisted as the tendrils of satan’s influence - dare one suggest a connection there?
That’s why I’ve always kept frequent backups, a clean boot disk, and a bottle of holy water handy at all times. Good luck.

BTW, while you’re at it, note that the posting times for the comments are for some reason 6 hours ahead of the real time. Don’t know what causes that, unless some server or PC involved in hosting the blog or website has its clock set wrong (or was left defaulted to Greenwich Mean Time on setup).

Did you say ‘boot disk’, as in one of those plastic-encased things that holds 1.44MB? That hearkens back to the days of fiddling with autoexec.bat and config.sys… Do people still do that, or know what they mean?

Well, actually, nowadays it can mean a CD with certain parts of the OS kernel on them. Sometimes people still do that in very rare cases, and no, most don’t know what they mean anymore.
