Greetings faithful readers! After such a lengthy absence from posting on this here blog, I feel compelled to echo the sentiments of great American author Samuel Langhorne Clemens: “The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”
As my fellow FOCUS missionaries well know, life tends to become more hectic and dissipated in the spring of the academic year. You may protest that summer is well underway, which point I must concede. Anyway…
My fellow Luceat! bloggers and I gathered recently in Atchison, KS (except for Katie–she’s studying theology in IL for the summer) to set forth some semblance of a plan for the coming months. Our near-brilliant idea is this: to propose a common theme for each month on which our conversations and reflections will center.
We thought July would be fitting for discussions of Americana–say, touching on the North American martyrs, the genius of Flannery O’Connor, the meaning of liberty, economic theory in light of Catholic teaching, &c., &c.
We’ll strive to set equally compelling themes each month–feel free to share your suggestions.
E pluribus unum!

Everyone loves a theme party. Can’t wait to see what you all cook up for this month’s topic. Can I vote for Bishop Carroll?

You certainly can–although I know little about him. Hmmm… must do some digging…
