Welcome to the FOCUS-affiliated* blog devoted to musing on the permanent things.
What are those permanent things? Why, the good, the true, and the beautiful, of course! As full-time staff of the Fellowship Of Catholic University Students, the writers of this quaint corner of the blogosphere are in the business of pursuing the Transcendent and are dedicated to helping others see Him as well.
Because how you live hinges on how you see and seeing is impossible without light, we’ve named the blog Luceat!, evoking our hope that all of us be more and more suffused with the True Light. ‘Letters from the Front-lines of the New Evangelization’ is indicative of our (relatively) unique perspective:
- We aim to write ‘letters’ and not simply rants nor narcissistic narratives (”Today for breakfast, I had…”). The hope is that this becomes a forum for stimulating conversation and fruitful reflection.
- We’re on the front-lines of the New Evangelization because we work on American college and university campuses–for a fuller explanation of FOCUS’ mission, visit the link above.
- The New Evangelization is now! Emerging young leaders, inspired largely by the Christian witness of the life and pontificate of John Paul II, are responding in increasing numbers to the Church’s call to engage the culture on its own terms, to be unafraid to preach an unpopular Gospel to a doubtful world, to live the truth. This is not a mere political movement, nor a fad, nor a cultish rebellion–it is a work of God’s grace.
We want to seek answers to these important questions: How ought we see the world? How do our convictions (for example, that God became man) shape our lives? How do we invite others to discover the same?
So, look around, leave some (charitable) comments, be edified and edify others.
